BYO API key setup

ChemStitch works out of the box with the platform’s default AI model. If you prefer to use your own API key, go to Settings and enter a key for either OpenAI or Anthropic.

Your API key is encrypted before being stored. It is never sent to any service other than the selected AI provider.

Model selection

Choose from available models:

• • OpenAI: GPT-4o, GPT-4o mini
• • Anthropic: Claude Sonnet 4, Claude Haiku 4

Model selection applies to all AI features: chat, property prediction, reaction prediction, retrosynthesis, naming, OCR, and PubChem lookups.

Dark mode

ChemStitch supports three appearance modes: Light, Dark, and System (follows your OS preference). Switch modes using the theme toggle in the navigation bar.

Your preference is saved to local storage and persists across sessions. The page applies the theme before rendering to prevent a flash of the wrong theme on load.
